Fellowship Overview
The Jacquelyn Sanders Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of the Tree Conservation Research Fellowship. This fellowship aims to engage passionate student researchers in the critical work of tree conservation, with a focus on cloning and nurturing tree cuttings, documenting their progress, and contributing to wider reforestation efforts.
Fellowship Responsibilities
The Tree Conservation Research Fellow will be responsible for:
- Tree Cloning and Care:
- Making tree cuttings throughout the month.
- Caring for existing cuttings to ensure their growth and health.
- Encouraging and documenting the growth of cloned trees.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Keeping detailed records of care practices and progress of cloned trees.
- Reporting monthly on the results of stewardship, including:
- Species of trees cloned.
- Success rates and growth statistics.
- Losses and new clones set.
- Photographic documentation of the process and outcomes.
- Documentation of any trees gifted, including recipient details and planting purposes.
- Quotes from Recipients about the intended use and the relevant stakeholders.
- Providing pictures of planted trees. Pictures of the growing Clone Operations.
- Recipient Engagement:
- Actively seeking local recipients for the trees.
- Assisting recipients with planting and caring for the trees where possible.
- Documenting and reporting on the size and readiness of baby trees for survival in the region.
- Reforestation Collaboration:
- Coordinating with other NGOs for potential transfer of trees to broader reforestation projects.
- Striving to produce thousands of trees annually as part of the conservation efforts.
Fellowship Benefits
- A modest stipend will be provided upon receipt of an acceptable End of Month Report.
